Compass

Website Effectiveness Grid

The scoring framework behind every Compass scan — 18 categories, ~160 metrics, one profile per client.

What this is

Every service Compass offers eventually reports through this same grid. Instead of one blended website score, each of the 18 categories below gets its own independent score — a profile, not a single number. A client's Content score and Security score aren't meant to average together; they answer different questions.

This is a first-pass classification, not a finished spec. It's meant to be refined as real scans go live — edit any row via Data Editor (data/effectiveness-grid.js).

📊 Scoring scale
Each metric scores 0–100 raw, banded to Red (0–49) / Yellow (50–79) / Green (80–100) for client display.
Category rollup
Simple average of a category's metric scores (equal weight) for now. Future enhancement: weighted or gatekeeper logic — e.g. a failed SSL cert could cap the whole Technical Health category regardless of other scores.
No composite score
There is no single blended overall score. The grid is an 18-category profile — Security and Content aren't meaningfully addable into one number.
⚙️ Automated
Fully automated crawl or API check — no login, no human judgment call.
🧠 AI-Judged
An LLM reads or views crawled public content and scores it against a rubric — no login required, but it's a judgment call, not a hard measurement.
🔑 Client-Access
Requires the client to grant access (GA4, GTM, CRM, CMS/server admin, ad accounts) before it can be scored.
🧑💼 Human-Expert
Requires a Northwoods AD to review, test, or interview — not automatable even with access.
